A couple of weeks ago, Acéphale was proud to share the Elite Gymnastics remix of the Juliana Barwick album-highlight, “Sa Sa Samoa.” Now they’re excited to reveal a new video of the remix, created by Elite Gymnastics themselves. The video takes the remix to new heights, amplifying it’s emotional core through a dizzying blend of found footage and original animation.
Swedish duo Korallreven—aka Marcus Joons and Daniel Tjäder (of The Radio Dept)—has premiered the new video for “Sa Sa Samoa”. Directed by Filip Nilsson, the video rolls through imagery of serenece mountainscapes and dusty roads – a “quick peek of the world before we destroy it” according to Joons. Featuring Brooklyn-based vocal experimentalist Julianna Barwick and a children’s choir from the island of Samoa, “Sa Sa Samoa” is the third single from the duo’s critically acclaimed debut album, An Album By Korallreven.
Korallreven is preparing for its first US shows ever including dates with Young Magic, Lemonade, Giraffage and Finally Boys. The duo will also make select appearances at SXSW ’12. The forthcoming March tour dates follow Korallreven’s live debut in Europe this past December that featured an ethereal light display and a few sets with Air France. Several performances will include special guest appearances by Victoria Bergsman (Taken By Trees, The Concretes), who was featured on the duo’s single “As Young As Yesterday.

Swedish duo, Korallreven aka Marcus Joons and Daniel Tjäder (of The Radio Dept.), have debuted a brand new single,”Sa Sa Samoa” featuring the atmospheric guest vocals of Brooklyn-based experimentalist Julianna Barwick. The single is taken from their forthcoming debut full-length, An Album By Korallreven, which will be released November 15th on Acéphale (November 14th UK) and November 16th in Scandinavia through Hybris.
In “Sa Sa Samoa,” their third single from the album, Korallreven dive even deeper into dream-pop territory in partnership with Barwick. The Samoan choral tradition is a major influence on the album and here Korallreven incorporate Barwick’s trademark vocal loops into a deeply meditative soundscape that eventually builds to an ecstatic eruption.
Korallreven’s first single “Honey Mine” was released earlier this year to great acclaim, alongside their summer-released A Dream Within A Dream mixtape that featured an extremely well-received remix of Britney Spears’ “Till The World Ends.” They followed with second single “As Young As Yesterday,” featuring Victoria Bergsman (Taken By Trees, The Concretes) and remixes by Panda Bear and Girl Unit.
