The Sam Roberts Band

In support of their upcoming album Collider,, out May 10th on Zoë/Rounder Records, the Sam Roberts Band will embark on a North American headlining tour beginning May 16th. Tour dates below.

Joined by Califone percussionist Ben Massarella and Antibalas woodwind wizard Stuart Bogie, Collider reinterprets, without tampering, the spirit of the band’s classic pop song craft and infectious melodies that countless critics fell in love with. Immediately apparent on the album’s opening track “The Last Crusade,” which begins as a simmering soul shuffle before gradually intensifying into a brass-blasted Afro-funk blowout.

Get an inside look at the recording sessions with this assemblage of behind the scenes home movies put together by the band:

Along with NPR, USA Today, The New York Times, Associated Press, Daytrotter, Blender and more, Esquire Magazine hails the Sam Roberts Band will “make you evangelical about rock, because this is what it’s supposed to sound like.” The Wall Street Journal goes on to say the band “has an ear attuned to grand, melodic hooks and a sound like Tom Petty fronting The Strokes” while Relix Magazine adds they’ve “found a way to blend addictive melodicism with a focus that gives nods to the best of Britpop, garage rock and more.”

Developed through years of non-stop touring and three critically acclaimed albums, Collider, sees the Sam Roberts Band doing what all great bands do: furthering their artistic scope with each successive effort.
